I’ll start with my doctors’ appointment today. I was hoping to finally discover the name of my little friend inside of me but the doctor said he needed more tests and more poop, so either I could do that or just be happy with not being sick anymore. I opted out of getting more tests just to learn the name. So forever it will be my anonymous bug that made me sick. As for strippers, one of the men who works in the office came into today with his face all twisted. I asked him what was wrong and he said he had a really uncomfortable interview on Saturday and he was supposed to write about it. His project is on abortion care in Burkina and he asks his fellow informants if he can follow them home to learn about their lives. In this case the woman said to meet her at work, she turned out to be a stripper. The man however is a very conservative Muslim, and doesn’t drink, or look at naked women so apparently he had a very difficult time waiting for her to finish to talk to her. Haha. He asked if I wanted to come next time to protect him…apparently someone tried to give him a lap dance and he doesn’t want it to happen again.
Today Mirabelle and I went downtown to pick out some cloth. As gifts for the owner of the NGO and another woman who helped me translate I bought two expensive (ten dollars a piece) pangs, which are three pieces of cloth that the women can use to make an outfit out of. Traditionally it’s a good gift to give someone as a thank you so that’s what I did. I really had no idea what kind to buy or what style and neither did Mirabelle so we will see if I picked some good ones, I went for the rule of “I wouldn’t wear that one” so I bet they would! 5 days left now!
