Illness update

I no longer have a fever, or chills, or extreme back pain and I’ve been able to eat a little bit but I still feel crummy. I also was able to take my first shower in three days because bending down to do a bucket shower was too painful the last couple of days I’ve avoided it. Also the drain was clogging due to massive amounts of hair and toothpaste, or as my dad calls it the dead raccoon in the sink, and bending down to clear it out was not possible until today. I did shower however and it felt great, also I had two small bumps on my head that are now gone…the medication I’m on I think kills just about anything so whatever they were they are gone now…The medicine they gave me was two different types, one to remove pain and the fever and the second is to kill any type of infection, worm, parasite or bacteria. But this means I’m on three heavy drugs, including my malaria medicine and my mouth tastes like metal so I’m unhappy about it. However it is much better than before. I did not go into work today, I went to the clinic to drop off my ‘sample’ and get my blood results, which is just numbers so I cant read it. But I meet with the doctor on Friday and Saturday to go over what they mean. It a really annoying system here because they don’t have a national health care system set up every result and test you get written on half a sheet of paper, which you have to carry around and hand to the doctor. So the first time the doctor sees anything about you is when you hand your papers to him and he sits there thinking about what he just saw…also I have like 1000 pieces of half of a page of paper, also annoying. The doctor was also concerned about my weight, but looking at the patients waiting in the hall I was like ¼ their size so I could see why. I was in a fancier clinic than most and for the wealthy its more attractive to be a little pudgy by American standards, I have lost weight here but I’m not in a dangerous place. By fancy I mean the total of seeing the doctor and all these tests was about $60. I’m hoping to gain all the weight back with thai food in the US. Also anyone would lose weight being sick and sweating as much as one does here when you’re not used to it. For now I’m trying to keep calm and low for tonight then going to the office tomorrow where there is air-conditioning!
