sorry

I’m writing this to apologize for not posting for a while but the internet is down at work and on my wireless so I haven’t been able to get online for three days, but you wont get this until I get back online….

Nothing really special has been going on here, yesterday there was a group meeting at the NGO but a little bit after we got there someone said “it looks like rain” and then all the women left…it never did rain….Its funny that they fear the rain so much because when it starts it look like rain I can feel my body relax a bit because it can feel the colder temperatures coming in and it means I will get a good night sleep.

The longer I’m here the more I realize that I wish, at least I don’t know if it already exists, but I wish someone would write a book about minor medical issues you can cure at home when abroad. They could make the book into sections of world where you’ll be travelling and what’s readily available. I would buy it! I want to know what to do when you have a heat rash, what it looks like, different bug bites, different rashes, best way to stay cool at night with no electricity, and what to do when you can’t find a tampon…..topics like this. I’ve never been faced with the tampon issue but I know most women here do not buy tampons and if I had to make a makeshift tampon I don’t know what material to use or where to start, I mean I have a few ideas but it would be nice to have a book where someone had actually tried it! I would also want someone to tell me things like, if you get yourself wet every night to stay cool, these are the certain areas to try and keep dry….I want to book to give clear directions of someone who has tried it and say “if this doesn’t work then GO to the doctor because it was your only other solution.” Personally, I have to say that Aloe Vera cures a lot of things…but it would be nice to know that in West Africa you can easily get _________ to cure___________. Maybe someone will fund me to do this! Travel everywhere and write about how to cure the common medical disaster. Along with a list of things to never go without! If I was to write this book, I think it would have to be funny, clever and brutally honest. While I’ve learned a lot on my travels, every trip I am faced with a new problem and it would just be nice to know I’m not alone!
