The US of A

Eve, the nickname for Fatou’s husband, is one very cool dude. He’s probably around 6 feet 4’’ and a big guy. He is a biologist that works with HIV with a German company and is often travelling the world doing research. Last month he was in Haiti next month he is in Atlanta. He speaks English the best out of everyone here, and was telling me about his first trip to the US. He went for the first time when he was 35, and that was 11 years ago. He and other people from all over the world were nominated from their schools; he was getting his PhD in France, to go see the US. They went to DC, NYC, S. Carolina, and a few other places, I can’t remember. Anyways he was telling me that when they arrived they were given 2,000 USD and for some people that was more than their families made in a year. All of them were very excited to have this money, and for free. Eve then said the excitement didn’t last long. Everything was planned so that each penny of that money was spent on US soil. Each person had to sleep in his own hotel room, they were not allowed to share, and they had their restaurants picked out for them. Eve said one of the Nigerian men, realized the only way he could save some money would be to not eat. So he bought white bread and milk and eat in his room after the day was over! He didn’t save much though. The trip was for three weeks and they took this group of people to really nice prisons, hospitals and conferences to say “oh look at the US, we are so good at this and this…” oh the USA!
