Last night I thought I could hear the faint sound of rain falling on the tin roofs of the houses. Overly excited I turned off all the fans to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. Since there are no streetlights outside I couldn’t be 100% percent sure but I definitely heard water falling. After falling back asleep and forgetting to turn the fans back on (so waking up in a pile of sweat) I ran to the door to open it and look at the rain but everything was still dry. WHAT! HOW COULD THIS BE! Nervous that my malaria pills were actually driving me insane (which is one of the side effects next to suicidal thoughts and hearing voices, great) but in fact I was not wrong once walking outside you can feel the dip in temperature. It was most certainly raining last night. When my friend came to pick me up to head to the office he also told me to grab a sweater, no way i said. He told me “today we are in London,” but in Burkina this rain is called the Mango rain because it happens once a month in May and April and it gives the mangoes just enough water to grown and become perfect for picking. I did not grab a sweater and during one brief moment on the motorcycle I thought, wow its cold, and then I took it back. It is still raining now, two hours later. I hope it goes on for days! Although I think the mosquitoes like this weather just as much as I do….
