My pictures look happy; it makes everything look so happy! here the truth. Next to these sunny images of bikes and buildings is a road, covered in trash, and made from dirt. This is what most of the roads look like outside of my house. Except my apartment is on the market place street so its a bit different.
Today I worked in the office with Mirabelle on our interview questions and she took a while to translate them. Her English is not very strong but I think it will be okay between the two of us. I found a huge lizard in my bedroom when I came home tonight. It scared the shit out of me and I hope its smart enough to climb out the window. I think they are harmless but
I’m not totally sure. Mirabelle’s bike shut down today before heading into work so I got a ride from another guy who works at IRD. Riding motorcycles is scary enough in Africa but when a boy drives, they are usually more aggressive. I had to tell the guy to slow down because I was actually afraid. I thought one of my legs was going to come off. He thankfully did slow down. I think he is also very nervous a lot of his family is in the Ivory Coast, but thankfully the situation there has calmed down.
I met with the head of IRD today, he is a French man, and typically so. He was very formal and such and he needed to see my insurance card to be on the compound. I hadn’t read my insurance but basically Sweden covers me for everything, even if I have to take an emergency flight home. Very nice.
