Today was some catholic holiday I’m not too sure actually exists, people here will use any excuse not to go to work, including a catholic holiday when most people are muslim… So I went over to Fatou’s house to try and get rid of my backpack tan, which I’m sure is attractive in its own way. I also help teach little Sarah to swim, mostly just to not be afraid, and to swim. When had lunch today and I tried to remember what it must be like to see all this for the first time. I am referring to lunch. Which was To, common and not weird, but the sauce was made from sheep and it have all the intestines in it, so there were tubes coming out of every direction and everyone was eating with their hands pulling to break the tubes. I’m not much of an intestines eater so I just stuck with the sauce but even the kids were digging into them. I think it would be nearly impossible to convince an American child to eat that.
Tomorrow is my goodbye party with the women at the NGO. I have already bought 24 cans of soda, fish, onions and oil to make sandwiches for them. I’ll buy 11 baguettes tomorrow to top it all off. Fatou is coming to support me, her husband eve left today for Haiti. Also apparently last night on of the guys I work with came to get me at midnight to take me to see some of the Ouaga night life, but he couldn’t reach me on my phone, and I guess he knocked and I also didn’t wake up and he was at my door too long so the neighbors thought he was trying to rob me and chased him out. I introduced him to them this morning and they had a good laugh, I’m glad they were protective though. And please someone do me a favor and the next time I take a trip like this remind me to cut my goddamn hair….I would really appreciate it.
I also need to note in case I forget tomorrow that my internet at home has magically stayed on even past a month, so it could go out at any second which means tomorrow may be my last blog before Sweden since it will be the last work day. Do not fret if you don’t hear from me until Monday, I’ll write when I get home.
